Since we know what it is like to walk into a building or meeting in an unfamiliar environment we want to help you be familiar with what happens here at West Island.
When you walk through the front doors of the church members of our Welcome Team will be available to make your time with us more comfortable. They are easily identifiable by the badges they wear and will be happy to answer any questions you may have or to assist you in any way possible.
Sunday Morning Worship & Kid’s Church
We currently offer one Sunday Morning Worship Service which begins at 10:30 AM. Kid’s Church for children ages 3-12 is offered during the worship service. Please note that the Children’s area is open only to authorized access after 10:30 AM. Should you need to pick up your child before the service is finished one of our ushers or Welcome Team will be happy to help you. Kid’s Church finishes at the same time as the worship service.
Teenagers remain in the service in the sanctuary until the time for the preaching at which time they go downstairs to their class in the Teen Room. The last Sunday of each month is Family Worship Sunday, a service where children, teens and adults are together in the sanctuary for worship.
The Morning Worship Services include congregational singing, prayer and a message. On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate Communion (Lord’s Supper) as part of our worship service. Here at West Island we have what is known as “Open Communion” which means that each individual decides whether they will participate or not.
Our worship style is decidedly contemporary and Pentecostal – depending on the service we may be singing one of the newest songs written or an older hymn – or both. We believe in expressing worship by singing, by lifting our hands, clapping, lifting our voices and other biblical expressions of worship. Our band includes keyboard, organ, drums, bass guitar, electric guitar and saxophone.
We sing songs in English and French and sometimes Spanish with the words projected on the screen at the front of the church.. The preaching is in English and we offer simultaneous translation (via headsets) into French.
If you have children under the age of four we are happy to offer a supervised nursery while the worship service is taking place. We are taking the necessary precautions to provide your children with a safe and pleasant experience in our nursery.
We do not pass the offering plates in our services, we do have a box at the back of the church for donations, however, as our guests there is no pressure placed on you to give.
Information regarding our Wednesday In The Word Bible Study service may be found below.
